Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department today reports two new COVID-related fatalities. Both were Kyle residents; one a woman in her 60s, the other a man in his 50s. Both were hospitalized at the time of their deaths.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said there are 42 new lab-confirmed cases along with two hospital discharges and 55 additional recoveries.

“We continue to ask all Hays County residents to practice social distancing, wear masks and wash their hands frequently,” he said. “If you don’t need to go out, staying at home can also help slow the spread of the virus.”

The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,133; of those, 2,977 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 1,132. The number of negative tests is 20,924. Schneider is awaiting results on 51 tests.

Hays County has had 93 total hospitalizations; 20 people are currently hospitalized. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.

A COVID-19 Fact Sheet has been added to the County website: https://hayscountytx.com/covid-19-fact-sheet/. This document provides a glossary of terms and insight into methods and results calculations.

Hays County officials will soon be announcing details of permanent testing sites in the county.
