Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department today reports three (3) new COVID-related fatalities; one male from San Marcos in his 70s and one male and one female from Kyle, also in their 70s. All three were hospitalized at the time of their deaths.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider also reported 21 new lab-confirmed cases, four (4) new hospitalizations, one (1) hospital discharge and 57 additional people considered recovered.

The County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 4,297; of those, 2,896 are considered active. The number of individuals considered recovered is 1,373. The number of negative tests is 21,401. Schneider is awaiting results on 46 tests.

“With our Hays County numbers going down, people might think the virus spread is slowing or that it’s okay to relax our efforts,” Schneider said, “but that’s not the case. We need to work together as a community, and our best advice is to continue social distancing, wearing masks and washing our hands.”

Hays County has had 102 hospitalizations and 23 people are currently hospitalized; no change from yesterday. Some patients are in hospitals outside Hays County but are included in our numbers if they reside here. Likewise, an individual from another county who is in a local hospital would be accounted for in their county of residence.
