Hays County Emergency Information

Hays County Local Health Department was informed today of a COVID-related fatality of a Kyle man in his 80s. That brings the County’s total of COVID-related fatalities to seven (7). The health department also reported 158 new cases, two more people released from the hospital and 50 additional recoveries.

Epidemiologist Eric Schneider said the County’s total of lab-confirmed cases is 2,819; of those, 2,340 are considered active. The total number of individuals considered recovered is 472. The number of negative tests is 7,273. Schneider is awaiting results on 73 tests. Hays County has had 62 total hospitalizations; 17 people are currently hospitalized.

“The surge in Hays County is continuing,” Schneider said. “Our best advice is for all Hays County residents to wear masks, stay distanced and wash their hands often. By working together, we can help our community.”
